About the Role

Our client is a not-for-profit organisation based in West Perth. They are urgently seeking a Financial Accountant to come in and work with them on a 3 month temp contract with potential for extension or permanency beyond.

Candidates for this role must have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, or Finance, and a CA/CPA qualification or working towards
  • Well-developed financial accounting skills including asset register maintenance, balance sheet reconciliation, treasury & banking.
  • Previous audit experience is highly desirable but not essential
  • High level of problem-solving skills particularly in the area of financial analysis, modelling and supporting sound financial decision making

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Reporting & Audit: Prepare consolidated and ILU financial statements in accordance with standards. Serve as a key contact for external auditors, managing the audit file and final trial balance.

  • Month-End & General Ledger: Manage the timely close of month and year-end cycles. Responsible for journals, balance sheet reconciliations, the fixed asset register, and maintaining the chart of accounts.

  • Analysis & Management Reporting: Deliver monthly board and management reports, including budget variance analysis and forecasting. Ensure financial data is timely, transparent, and supports internal decision-making.

  • Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Coordinate tax obligations (BAS, FBT) and statutory submissions, including ACNC annual returns and ABS industry surveys.

  • Systems & Treasury Administration: Act as the Concur superuser (expenses/travel). Support treasury functions, including bank account administration, cash flow management, payment runs, and gift card oversight.

  • Process Improvement & Support: Identify and implement service enhancements to streamline workflows. Provide professional financial advice to internal stakeholders and provide backup for the Senior Financial Accountant.

  • Safety & Safeguarding: Maintain a safe environment by adhering to OSH legislation and MercyCare’s Safeguarding Children procedures. Report risks, hazards, or concerns in a timely and professional manner.

About You

You will be an experienced Financial Accountant with proven experience and reliability in previous positions:

The successful candidate will possess:
